Things to do in Arlington, Tx for the Holiday Season

You don't have to venture to Ft. Worth or Dallas this December to get your fill of festive activities. Check out my personal Arlington Local list of fave Arlington stops during the Holidays.

Drive through Interlochen Lights

Covering a route of over 2 miles, Interlochen Lights is an iconic Arlington Local holiday experience. The free neighborhood light tour is one of the largest and longest running DFW holiday traditions at over 40 years old. Due to it's popularity, weeknights are your best bet to avoid long lines. Even then, expect an extended amount of waiting time as everyone slowly enjoys the lights. It's important to note that traffic must always keep right, leaving the left lane open for emergency vehicles and Interlochen homeowners.

Explore the #DWGhouse front yard

Another must on the list, you have to see to believe. Located off Carnation Drive in Dalworthington Gardens, the #dwghouse is an inflatable-lover's paradise. From movie references to Holiday Classics, there's an inflatable for every kind of genre you can think of. This yard is free to explore and enjoy with family and friends. We've been going for years as a holiday tradition and the decor has yet to disappoint!

Drive by the Kulesz House benefiting the Alzheimer's Association

Experience over 600-700k white lights drenched around an acre plus of land. The family's pool, tennis court, volleyball area, house, trees, and bushes are outfitted from top to bottom. At times it almost looks like the trees are raining lights - it really is a magical sight to see. While the drive is free, if you enjoy the lights, be sure to donate to the Alzheimer's Association - a cause near to the owner's heart in honor of his family. Donation signs are posted throughout the yard. The display is lit up after Thanksgiving every night from sunset until 11 p.m. through New Year's and can be found on Harder Lane in Dalworthington Gardens.

Take a stroll through the Viridian Light Tour

Grab your hot cocoa and take a free ride along Viridian Park Lane to see some fun and festive light displays. You can find several homes in the development decorated in extravagant light displays as well.

Shopping at Texas Christkindl Market

2021 rings in the 10th year the Texas Christkindl Market has occurred here in Arlington, Tx. The inspiration for the market developed from the almost 70-year relationship between Arlington and its sister city, Bad Königshofen. Visitors will discover handcrafted gifts and collectibles, including exclusive Käthe Wohlfahrt merchandise, as well as mulled wine, delicious crepes, and tons of options for entertainment.

Texas Christkindl Market will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 am - 9 pm from November 18th through January 2nd, excluding Thanksgiving and Christmas. More info can be found here.

Boozy Hot Chocolate at Tanstaafl Pub

The oldest dive bar in Arlington with the same owners, Tanstaafl Pub has been entertaining the weird and wonderful since 1976. For those 21 and over, stop by "The T" and warm from the cold with a festive boozy hot chocolate. Various flavors of liquor and liqueur are available as well as tons of toppings to choose from.

Dine surrounded in lights at Campo Verde

If you've lived in Arlington through one holiday season, then you've absolutely heard of Campo Verde. The nationally recognized tourist destination floods with visitors from November to January to check out the epic indoor Holiday wonderland. You'll witness over 120,000 lights, 3,000 yards of multi-color garland, 50 Santa Claus's, 30 xmas trees, and two model trains that travel 635 feet throughout the entire restaurant and bar. Due to it's popularity, Campo can get overwhelmingly swamped in December so here are a couple tips if you plan to go. Campo doesn't take reservations so try to go early and on a weekday if possible (it opens at 11am Wed-Sun). Be patient and ready to wait. Have your whole party together and ready to be seated. This place is absolutely crazy and a must if you've never been. I will say it seems to get busier and busier each year, so for locals, the earlier the better this Christmas season!

Holiday in the Park

One of favorite times to go to Six Flags is during Holiday in the Park. Enjoy thousands of lights, live entertainment, a snow hill, fire pits with s'mores, hot cocoa, a holiday-themed marketplace, and so much more. Check out dazzling lights from fantastic heights on various theme park rides. My personal fave is the Holiday Lights Spectacular show that runs nightly in the Texas section of the park.

Holiday Drinks at Tipsy Oak

As the weather continues to cool down, Tipsy Oak has that problem under wraps with a slew of fire pits on their charming patio. After Thanksgiving, keep an eye out for themed Holiday cocktails to sip while warming by the fire with friends.

Hope y'all enjoy this Holiday season in Arlington and let me know if I need to add anything else to the list!
